Thanks to social media, the beauty of Macan island hadn’t been discovered since 3 years ago. Visitors are limited to 40 persons per day as it is a private resort, which makes it feels almost like your private island. Where is it and how to get there
Macan Island is part of Kepulauan Seribu. The journey begins when you reach Ancol. Head to Marina pier 17 and take a boat ride that costs IDR 45,000 to 85,000. It takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, so a day trip tour is likely possible. Or, you can book a private boat from the resort and have them arrange the schedule for you.
What to see and do
- Snorkeling and island hopping
Island hopping is the most favorite activity to do in Macan Island. With a few remote islands nearby, you can hop on your boat and prepare yourself to enjoy the bustling and colorful life under water. The water is crystal clear you can see fishes swimming by the corals even with naked eyes. There´s no need to bring goggles or fins because everything can be rented on the site.
- Lazying on in a open air hut
Macan Island is an eco village concept accommodation, where you can cozy up in one of the huts. An open air hut has a great view of the ocean and is perfect to spend your afternoon enjoying the spectacular sunset.
- Seafood feast
Of course, tasting that fresh seafood is a must. The restaurant provides delectable courses in a private setting or in the communal area. Grilled fish with dark soy sauce and piquant sambal matah, with the ocean as the backdrop? Bon appetit!
- Coral planting
Children can conveniently enjoy their stay as there are many activities to do including coral planting. You can learn how natural coral reef grow and contribute in a fun way to help create shelters for our ecosystem.
As time moves very slow in Macan island, you might start to paddle up your boat and see where it takes you. Kayaking or canoeing has never been this fun. The clear blue ocean lets you peep into the deep without having to get down from your boat. But who can resist dipping their feet?
The uninhabited island has exotic pathways for you to trek. It will be an easy journey and you won´t get lost!
Where to stay
The only accommodation available in the island is Tiger Islands Village and Eco Resort with huts, cabins and tents to choose from. The cheapest room is the island Tent that costs about IDR 2,000,000 per pax. But don’t imagine a humble camp – these tents have a full facilities of a hotel. A bed and a clean sheet on top of it. The cabin type lets you have your own comfy bed with shared bathroom but if you come in group, you can book one of the huts that accommodates up to 5 persons.
